Compliance Officer

In this strategic role, you will ensure that Wanaka Fund Management and the alternative investment funds adhere to legal regulations and industry standards, you will identify and mitigate compliance risks related to investments, transactions and investor relations and oversee internal compliance controls and reporting to the Board and the regulator.

Your responsibilities
- Undertake second line controls.
- Conduct risk assessments linked to the compliance function and implement mitigative measures.
- Establish an annual action plan and prepare mandatory compliance-related reports and questionnaires.
- Assist with the revision of charters, policies, procedures, and other documents related to compliance/AML.
- Provide advice on compliance matters, including advising senior management and the first line of defense on the correct application of laws, regulations, standards, and codes. To act as a point of contact for the team regarding compliance work domains.
- Train the team regarding compliance work domains.
- Undertake AML onboarding and controls.
- Act as the AMLCO of the company
- Monitor external mandates of the board and senior management.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments applicable to Wanaka and identify actions that need to be taken to comply with new requirements (in close collaboration with the legal team).
- Assist the fund team in other business and fund related legal, financial and administrative tasks

What we're looking for
- Experience in financial regulatory compliance: You have relevant experience in financial regulatory compliance with a deep understanding of the applicable regulatory framework, including AIFMD, financial crime regulations, SFDR, market abuse, and GDPR.
- Employee: A full-time or part-time (80%) employee.
- Business Interest: You are excited to learn and understand the business of an alternative investment fund manager in real estate.
- Curiosity: You are curious to stay informed and keep a finger on the pulse of developments in the financial regulatory industry and at FSMA, including priorities.
- Detailed-oriented and methodical: You possess a keen eye for detail, a methodical approach, and strong organizational skills.
- Integrity and Impartial behavior: You demonstrate integrity and authority in all aspects of the role and exhibit impartial behavior in all decision-making meetings and studies.
- Analytical skills: You possess analytical skills to uncover potential compliance risks.
- Communication skills: Demonstrate effective communication skills to explain compliance risks to the company's stakeholders and to provide comprehensive training to staff in compliance matters.
- Language: Fluent in English and French and/or Dutch.
